What's the deal with the Stone of Jordan?

My single play amazon found one the other day. Amazing. None of my other characters ever did. I only do single play. And I remember reading somewhere where I can't find it back that there's an oddity with the Stone of Jordan but I can't remember what or where?

Is anything funny about to happen?|||Nothing funny will happen to you, but it is a good find.

It is used in a few cube formula's, and it is also sold to vendors on Bnet to spawn Dclone. (won't happen in SP) It is however very rare. I have never seen one drop and have played since the release.||| I thought it must be rare as of all the years I've played Diablo single play (10 years now) it never dropped anywhere. And then to imagine it was just one of those random reraised flopsies that those wobbly shaman's make that dropped it.....yay me.|||Congrats, Viv! I had never found one, and did some 800+ Andy runs to find one. I burned out on that, and did a few Meph runs to recover. Sure enough, one fell for me from a chest in the Durance.|||But still, nothing funny will happen? Damn, I had half hoped it would.|||A SoJ is simply a ring with +1 skills and +mana which is obviously useful for casters who don't need further FCR. It was the most rare unique ring in the core game and in early patch levels, you could produce it rather easily by gambling.|||Quote:

*) One does not simply walk into Mordor. And if you do, tossing the ring in the vulcan isn't that simple either: it floats. The most common method to make it sink is tie some extra weight to it, i.e. Gollum though Sam would have made it sink quicker to be fair.|||Nothing weird will happen on single player. On B.net, you can sell SoJs to vendors. When enough are sold, it will spawn the Diablo Clone which drops a unique small charm. That might be what you are thinking of. However, this does not happen on single player.
