Duriel in Act 2

[:1]I have a L24 barb, have 2 flails with bash/dble swing setup, 268 def, and I use the 4 thaw potions. I had 6 full pots rejuv. I couldnt get him down 20%.

Now i had watched a video by a player who used same setup and killed him easy with only 1 pot. My set up is same except he has , well ungodly damge, for his dble swing. He has used runes ( which I never saw even one rune of any kind in two times doing act 1/2). I have 19 level for bash and 2 for dble swing like he did.

He had like 250+ damage in dble swing.

I have v 1.13 single player diablo 2.

How does a player get such huge damage?|||Cant answer your question, how to obtain that dmg at lvl 24..

But try this!

1# Find an item (preferably a ring or amulet) with "cannot be frozen" or "half freeze duration".

2# Get "Shout", a skill that increases defense, and "Battle Cry"(which lowers Duriels defense and damage)!!

And since you are lvl 24, get 1 point in battle orders aswell. Use it to get +35% life and mana for 35 secs(at lvl 1!!)

3# Get lifesteal!! On some rare weapons you may find, not only lifesteal, but good dmg aswell.

Hope that can help!|||Quote:

Do you have the expansion installed?|||What class do you play?

Because I discovered with sorceress it's a lot of fun to cast Static Field on him a number of times....it goes very quickly indeed.|||I'll second Archone regarding lifesteal, shout and battle orders. I've never played a dual wielding barbarian so I have no idea how your build should be, but if it just seems impossible to defeat the bug, I suggest you take an Act 1 Fire Rogue (1 level below you) with a nice bow, since your Spear Merc will die in no time, but she can safely stay outside the aura's range. If you have money, gamble for rares with Life, FHR, and at least 25 Cold Resist (before thawing pots).

It'd be nice if you read before answering; the class being used is the first thing he (or she) wrote.

That doesn't work against Duriel, nor any other monster (or player) with Holy Freeze Aura, since it's not internally categorized as a freezing effect, but a slow (same as Gumby's ability, the Decrepify curse, and the item modifier "Slows target by X%").|||IMO, life steal is nearly useless with the low damage you deal in Normal. I say that no matter what Barbarian build you are playing, getting past Normal Duriel shouldnt be too hard if you get some blocking.

Get these two items:

* Bone Shield of Deflecting (shop from Drognan)

* The runword 'Steel' (Tir + El) in a Flail. The socketed Flail can be bought from Fara, and the two runes should be easy to find in Act II. This weapon swings fast, does decent damage and has Open Wounds.

Also, dont forget to buff with thawing potions, plus its good to wear some cold resist item(s) so you reach 85% cold resist with the potions.|||Quote:

ow on this level is not worth using...better find some weapon with cb.and improve ar (or -target def)especially for baba with cs. poison dmg could be also very useful in this case. duri have no longer charge so he just jabbing and sometimes smite, i realize that the best against duri is to be ofensive as much as possible. his lair is also pretty small so it doesnt matter too much rogue or pala, few pulses of hf usually kill them (maybe bug). items (player or merc) with slows target is very very useful, but duri on normal is hard for most chars anyway :)|||Getting CB by duriel is not really realistic unless you are lucky.

Make sure that you drink down enough thawing potions to last the fight, since the duration stacks, and give some to the merc as well.

I am not a big fan of OW, but I don't see why it's less effective in normal.

Just hang in there, this is a major sticking point for a lot of first timers, but you can get through it.

If you need runes, go run the countess's tower she always drops at least one rune. Found in the black Marsh of act 1.|||I tried backward engineering to figure out what is going on exactly. Is this the video you are talking about? Diablo 2 - How to Kill Duriel with the Barbarian (NO town portals, NO merc)

Compared to his level the guy has a ton of elemental damage, his items are all geared towards this particular fight. While the pieces are all easy enough to obtain, they are totally unnecessary. In the time it takes to get them you can down Duriel ten times over. Just pick up the first object with a sharp end and kill him dead, barbarians do that. Unlike in the video, keep drinking healing potions, do use a merc (give him thawing potions too) and do use town portals if needed. That's how you make up for the disparity in gear.|||Quote:

Okay, this just made me laugh...
