Cleaning superior items

Is it safe to clean slots (hel+tp in cube) in an item with +ed+dura ? The ed and dura wont disappear right?|||As far as I know, the only thing that recipe does is to remove/destroy whatever is in the sockets.|||That's also what I think. I'll take a risk. Thx|||It doesn't affect the item in any way, just removes the socketed thingies. Bnet rumor again?
