Adding sockets with a cube

[:1]Hello everyone!

I was just wondering, the recipes in the cube that says they will add for instance 1-6 sockets to a normal weapon. 2 questions:

1. Does "normal" mean normal versions of any item, or does it mean it just has to be a white quality item? Meaning I can use the recipe with a elite version of a bow for instance?

2. Does it work like it I have a weapon with 2 sockets for instance, then it will add another 1-6 additional sockets (Obviously to the max of 6), or will it just create the same item, with a random number between 1-6 sockets, meaning I could potentialy lose a socket if I'm unlucky, or does it have to be a clean weapon? (Ie, no sockets, ethereal or anything?

Thanks in advance!|||Hello :)

1.

You can use the recipe for any white item that doesn't have prefix like "superior"

or "low quality" but it has to be the right recipe for armor or weapon etc. So, yes, you can use it for elite items.

2.

No, if you try it nothing will happen, you cannot add/remove sockets to an item that already has socket(s). It can be etheral but it needs to be clear.|||Quote:

Thanks for the answer!|||I was under the impression that superior armors could be socketed with the cube recipe.

If that is true then, the only way someone could get a 3 socket sup Arcane plate would be by it dropping with 3 sockets and superior. That can't be true. It would be way too rare.

Can someone confirm this?|||From the Arreat Summit:

1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type

The number of sockets created will vary. The item must be normal and unsocketed. Low-quality items and superior items do not work. The item gets 1-6 sockets, randomly. However, the number of sockets is then restricted by the maximum number of sockets that base item with that ilvl can have. For example, if you have an item that can only have 2 sockets, there's a 5/6 chance of getting 2 sockets and a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket.

Edit: Archon Plate with an ilvl of 25 or less will always receive three sockets from Larzuk.|||Thank you Noodle. Guess I can't trust my memory like I once could.

P.S. Are Archon Plates will an ilvl of 25, or less, common? Seems like they tend to fall in Hell mostly and most areas have levels well above 25.|||I don't know about common . . . I believe ilvl 25 and under would be only Normal, which most people seem to rush/get rushed through in online play. I'd probably try Normal cows as a best bet. Good luck!|||Try to get an elite item from normale cows eh? There's no way to get 3os on a superior AP with Larzuk. You can fix a cracked AP with the cube recipe and it would get 3os, but that can't be with ed|||Arreat Summit doesn't mention it, but etherial items can also be socketed with those recipes, as long as they aren't superior/whatever. That's a big help for merc gearing.
