question about crafting to get sockets in a magic item

i recently found a archon plate of the whale +94 life i know not perfect but still i like it and see potential. My main question is can i craft it to say get 4os in it and still keep the properties of the item and if so how do i do it?

There is that possibility, but it will be slim as the mods are rerolled when you craft or do anything like that. If you want the sockets the only way to get them and guarantee the same mods is to use the socket quest. Then there is an equal chance of getting one or two sockets if the items is blue. One if the item is rare, set or unique. And the mods stay the same on the item.

Besides a craft is basically a rare with some preset mods and the Jeweler's (4 sockets) and Artisan's (3 sockets) mods can only appear on magical items not rare or craft items.
