Does the ebug works with unique armors?

Just as the title says - does the recipe tal + thul + Ptopaz adds random sockets + 50% def on unique ethereal armors?



The whole point is that I got eth Atma's Wall and using it for my merc. It has a nice ~1300 def and with 50% more that would be almost 2k. Also the 20 mf on it + some adding some Ptopazes it could get quite a bit :)|||Uniques can't be socketed with the cube recipe.|||It has to be normal (grey name, not superior) ethereal armor (shield, helm, body) just to clarify.
