Unable to Connect from work

When I'm trying to connect to battle net from work, i'm getting the error:

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/587...rscreenrc5.jpg

it's a university, so i don't know about the restricted website/ips and i can't change somethings in modem.

do you have any idea, what i can change in my pc so it MAY be possible for me to login ?

it's true that there's not much info i'm giving but maybe some people who connecting from work experienced this kind of problem.

Thanks..|||The university network most likely blocks port 6112 that is used for bnet connection. Probably nothing you can do about it besides asking network administrator to allow connections on that port.|||I guess a firewall is blocking outgoing traffic to that port or to that IP address.

Try this in a dos box:

telnet europe.battle.net 4000

and maybe also

telnet europe.battle.net 6112

If you get a black window and/or a "connection closed by foreign host", but no timeout or error, it's something with the game, but if it's an error or timeout, something is blocking access.|||telnet europe.battle.net 4000

will always fail

telnet only works to test 6112

at the blank screen hit "c" (case sensitive must be lower)

you can try configuring torrent software to use port 4000 tho|||Thanks a lot for answers.

I tried "telnet europe.battle.net" command in cmd.exe

I didn't get a timeout error, but in fact i didn't get any answer...

it just said "connecting to europe.battle.net......" for 5 mins or so, until i closed it.

i guess this can be thought as a time out (:

Also i couldnt understand what you meant with this mate;

try "telnet europe.battle.net 6112"

youll get a blank screen, hit "c"

if port 6112 is open it will respond with

This is a Battle.net server

Your IP address is [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] (your internet ip here)|||Quote:

That's correct.

BTW, if it says that the program doesn't exist, you will have to activate it through control panel / programs. Click on "Activate windows functions" and activate the telnet client checkbox.|||i would be one bad administrator if students are allowed to install extra programs :) its most likely that either the firewall is blocking 6112 or you are behind a proxy server... (this last part is the most likely part) both are nothing you can do about i am affraid!

edit: let alone allowing them to open a CMD/run command and letting them use usb/cd's in the PC's :S|||Quote:

FTFY

your dont have to allow installing or copying of programs on public pc's

the d2 install can be copied or just played from usb, but windows can block that since d2 wont run on limited users or guests accts

d2 uses very little bandwidth and bnet often bans public ips if many users are on it

opening it would allow another port for torrent or other uses tho|||if you know anything about security you wouldnt be saying this:

"i would be one bad *** administrator if i listened to users requests"

but you clearly don't

I know the behavior of windows that is not the reason i made the remark about closing your USB ports you dont want people to bring their home infested USB sticks to infest your network!

is that so? i think in a business network environment you do not want to allow any kind of gaming entertainment... i mean the network is there for working purposes if you want to game go home ^^

Correct hence the reason you want to minimize the ammount of ports you open to and espessially from your network!
